A work of art related to the official mediaeval Balkan art tendency.

Description

Conventional iconography depicting the Virgin of Tenderness, 3/4 face to the child. Her right hand supports the hand of the child Jesus and her left hand, his body. The Child's legs are crossed. His left hand grips the cloak that falls from his mother's head; his other hand rests in her hand. The Virgin wears a dark-blue chiton and a brown maphorion edged with golden ornaments and patterns.

Base material: Wood

The obverse side of the two-sided icon (the back side is "Christ Pantocrator"). It has an inset base, the frame is broad, golden and red, the background is golden.
