The back side of the two-sided icon. The obverse side depicts the Virgin of Tenderness.

Description

The icon depicts a full-face Christ Pantocrator, a conventional iconography. He wears a chiton with an embroidered edge and a dark blue himation over it. His right hand blesses; in his left hand he holds a gospel with a lavishly decorated cover.

Base material: Wood

The icon has an inset base. The background is golden almost throughout but for the lower corners where it is olive green. The frame edge is red; inside it is golden which continues in the background.
