The icon was probably produced by the author of The Virgin Hodegetreia from St George's Church in Dripchevo village. The graphic area is enclosed in an unconventionally decorated frame.

Description

A traditional iconographic treatment of this theme. Saint John the Baptist is portrayed with wings, blessing with his right hand, and in his left hand he is holding a bowl with his cut-off head.The saint is dressed in sack cloth with a dark-green mantle on his shoulders. He is portrayed against a blue background, with spread-out wings and in a stern, ascetic attitude. There are, on both sides of the aureole, decorated in the Baroque style medallions with the initials of the Forerunner.
