Holy Forty Martyr’s church and the Great Laurel Monastic Complex in Veliko Tarnovo
The Holy Forty Martyr’s Church is one of the most famous churches in Bulgaria, constructed and painted upon the will of Bulgarian king Ivan Asen ІІ to commemorate his great military victory over the Despot of Epirus Theodore Komnenos in 1230. The church became a centre of a series of important events and its nave comprises the most significant tokens of the Bulgarian history. (more)
