Object identification notes

The manner in which the armor plates have been painted is particularly characteristic. This is the manner of the famous icon of Archangel Michael from Athens, 1640 (the Chapel of the Military Academy) by the artist Georgios Skordilis, and the early 17th century St George from the Monastery of St Catherine in Mount Sinai.

Description

The two saints are depicted full face and full length. The depiction conforms to the iconography formula; the saints have characteristic face features.
