Description

The portraits are solid and vigorous. They seem to present two high-ranking ecclesiastics. The mysticism of previous centuries is gone. The faces are full of life; the cheeks are rosy; the hair-do, beards and garments are contemporary. An arch-shaped icon in a painted frame with a golden stylized floral motif in the corners against a dark background. In the upper part the background is dark-gray; in the lower part it is yellow golden. The two enlighteners are depicted in full size and full face; they wear bishop vestments and crowns on their heads. St Cyril holds an open scroll with the Slav alphabet on it; St Methodius blesses with one of his hands and holds a crosier in his other hand. The waist-long figure of Jesus Christ appears over their heads from among white clouds. He presents a crown to the Slav enlightener.
