Description

The Christ on it dominates the composition. Sitting he is bigger than the apostles who are standing in front of him. Eight lines of text can be read at the level of the canopy, in the left-hand field. The figures are embroidered all over in several colors. The blue tinge of the cupola on the bullion base stands out. The lavish edge decoration, the severe composition in which the perfect outline of the components in it dominates produce the impression of pomp and grandeur. Golden, claret, dark-blue are juxtaposed and contrasted to reinforce the impression of majesty. The depiction is a bullion embroidery on purple silk with blue cotton lining. A broad gold-embroidered band depicting a floral ornament of serpentines and palmettos runs along the rectangular veil. To the right, there is a sitting Christ under the lavishly decorated canopy with graceful columns, in three-quarter face to the apostles standing in front of him. In the foreground the canopy column is decorated with a heart-shaped ingenuous ornament. The table in front of Christ is decorated with crosses, which are inscribed in round medallions.
